* Information Literacy at D'Amour for Instructors

 About Discipline-Based Workshops

Discipline based, in-depth workshops are available for all academic disciplines at Western New England University. These workshops can introduce and give students hands-on experience with scholarly and professional resources such as

  • discipline-specific databases
  • specialized reference sources
  • high-quality web resources used by scholars and professionals in the field

Applying the basic skills learned in the First Year Information Literacy Program, these workshops focus on information literacy specific to each academic area through an in-depth investigation of professional, scholarly digital and print sources for each discipline.

See Information Literacy Services for a selection of  student learning opportunities. Get in touch with us to design and/or schedule a workshop customized to the needs of your specific course.

 Objectives

The aim of holding discipline-specific instruction sessions is to give students further opportunities to develop as information literate individuals as outlined in the Rubric for Information Literacy.

Having complex knowledge about information literacy and its facilitation for students, librarians are particularly equipped to help students strengthen their skills and understandings, guiding their progress toward Mastery throughout their time at WNE. It is our goal to complement students' educational experiences and provide opportunities to incorporate progressively complex information literacy concepts into their unique bases of knowledge.
