With the semester in full swing, it may be hard to find any free time, but if you do, why not use it to learn something new? Try out one of these apps to learn a new skill, discover something you didn’t know, or find extra support for something you are currently learning.

Free (in app purchases); iOS and Android

Learn American Sign Language on the go with your phone! This app is designed to teach you the visual language in an easy, intuitive way, and at your own pace. Get started with free basic packages, and download more as you master your sign language skills!

Free; iOS and Android

Stay informed about our world, and beyond! This app brings together all the latest information from NASA, including images, videos, news and stories, mission information, sighting opportunities, and even live streaming from the High Definition Earth Viewing experiment.

Free; iOS and Android

Mathway will solve any math equation for you, from basic algebra to complex calculus. Type in or take a picture of your problem, and Mathway will not only give you the solution, but all of the steps needed to get there. Of course, we don’t endorse using Mathway instead of solving the problems yourself, but as a tool to help you learn!

Free; iOS and Android

Whether you’re taking a language class, or are looking to learn a new language outside of the classroom, give Duolingo a try! This top rated language learning app features over 30 languages to choose from. Lessons are quick and fun, and feel like a game, so learning a language won’t only be entertaining, but it will be easy to stick to because you won’t want to stop playing.
